We meet all the criteria for membership in the eurozone. That's why we shouldn't have missed the mark and asked for an extraordinary convergence report in February. It won't be clear in February what will happen, while now it is clear - we cover all the criteria.
This was stated in the program "The Day Live" on NOVA NEWS by the MP from "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" Martin Dimitrov, who commented on Bulgaria's entry into the eurozone.
"Initially, the Ministry of Finance said that they would request a report as early as January and then suddenly they turned around. To me, this looks like sabotage. The data has not changed, the position of the Ministry of Finance is changing and this is disturbing. A very unlikely scenario is that we ask for a convergent report and not be approved. This is because first you negotiate and understand and then you ask for a report. At the moment, we are not considering a vote of no confidence in the government on the subject, because this is a last resort mechanism, when you see that the train is turning and you lose control", he added.
"For the third time, we are hearing that the state deficit is huge. All three times, this information turned out to be false. For me, this number has become a bit worn out. GERB raised salaries in the Ministry of Interior and the services, and now they are amazed about the deficit. It is clear that the situation requires measures, but the same people who talk about the deficit are negotiating with restaurateurs to return the 9% tax to them. This is incompatible and unacceptable. The problem is not in the revenues, but in the expenditures. The PP-DB has proposed a number of measures to reduce spending in the state administration and healthcare. The topic of business aid due to high electricity prices requires a much more extensive analysis. I do not believe in giving money without any effect. It is time to calculate the effect of this program," concluded Martin Dimitrov.
