Trade unions are worried about the budget date - 1

The trade unions express concern about the date by which the budget is expected to be submitted. In the studio of "The Day Begins" on BNT, the president of the "Podkrepa" Trade Union Congress, Dimitar Manolov, commented that they will insist on getting acquainted with the parameters of the financial framework as soon as possible.

“I sincerely hope that these drafts, which have been done in various versions and were provided to us, will serve as a basis for assembling the budget that will be submitted to the National Assembly. This should happen faster and easier, but we should still have time to read these 4,500 pages of documents on the state budget alone plus the two budgets - of the DOO and the NHIF, to see what is inside them and make our proposals”, Manolov pointed out.

In its letter to the institutions, the union makes proposals for the introduction of a non-taxable minimum, updating of minimum and maximum social security incomes, analysis and updating of the minimum wage, and an increase in the remuneration of workers in the public sector by at least 10%.

“In any case, without a doubt, what needs to happen, what lies behind these proposals, is a rethinking and not a system of tax and social security legislation at all. I don't know if it will happen right now, because time is also pressing them, but in any case, these things need to start happening, they need to start being done. We have been saying since 2008, when the tax system was changed, that it is bad, life and practice have already proven it and it must be fixed”, explained Dimitar Manolov.

According to him, all party leaders, when there are no cameras in front of them, agree with this, but:

“So far, no one has found the strength to do it and introduce a non-taxable minimum on the minimum wage, to introduce a multi-tiered income tax scale.”
