GERB will try to fulfill its commitment to move the country towards full membership in the eurozone. The main challenge is the budget. They are currently playing a game - who is the greatest magician - Assen Vassilev or Temenuzhka Petkova. However, social spending should not be cut. This was stated by political scientist Ruzha Smilova on the air of the program "Your Day" on NOVA NEWS.
"The Joint Management Council is a good approach that allows for decision-making by all formations and bearing political responsibility by all partners. This should lead to stability and predictability. It is evident that the commitments made for spending in the budget are quite serious, and there is no willingness on the part of the government to change anything. It will be difficult to fulfill all the conditions without raising taxes and cutting spending," Smilova added.
For his part, social anthropologist Haralan Alexandrov believes that with the current political representation, the government in its current configuration is the only option. "There is hope, albeit a timid one, after a regular cabinet is formed. The obvious situation of budget shortage is a result of the generosity of previous governments. There is a possibility that Assen Vassilev will be named as the evil wizard who cast heavy black magic on the budget. I do not think that apportioning blame and pointing out a scapegoat is a good thing in politics. The PP government had the following philosophy: you spend on borrowing, you take the risk of taking on debt. And now we have to meet both the eurozone criteria and the people's expectations," Aleksandrov added.
