Katsarchev, Podkrepa Confederation: The insurance threshold should be 8,500 leva or not at all - 1

This is not the time to make job cuts, wherever it may be. We continue to have the lowest incomes in the European Union. If salaries in the state sector and enterprises are not increased, tensions may escalate. This was said by the chief economist of Podkrepa Confederation, Atanas Katsarchev, in the program "The Day Live" on NOVA NEWS.

According to him, there should be a change in tax and social security policies. He pointed out that the International Monetary Fund claims in a report that in Bulgaria "our tax and social security policy is inadequate with flat taxes". And he added that “those with high salaries don't want to pay, but to burden the workers down”. ”How are you going to tax the lowest salaries, they're not enough anyway”, he added.

Katsarchev added that there should be a non-taxable minimum and asked “what is this insurance threshold of 3750 leva.” In his words, it should either be around 8500 leva, or not exist at all. “Rich people have excluded themselves from the insurance system”, the expert added and asked “why only the poor have to endure these systems”.

Katsarchev said that social payments should not be frozen. And he added that the poverty line is very low. He expressed hope that there would be a wage increase, but if this did not happen, there would be a backlash.
