The Sofia Municipality has not paid the municipal hospitals the funds due for January and February, with the total amount amounting to 1,520,000 leva. This was stated by the municipal councilor from "BSP for Bulgaria" Vanya Grigorova during a briefing at the Sofia Municipal Council, news.bg reports.
"We have received numerous signals from hospital directors that they cannot cope with the available resources. Doctors, nurses and healthcare workers have not received the additional remuneration, which is between 20 and 30% of their salaries," Grigorova pointed out.
She stressed that the delayed payments by the municipality further aggravate the situation in the medical institutions, which are already facing financial difficulties due to the delay in the state budget and that of the NHIF.
"The directors are asking the staff to wait, but we cannot possibly want to attract specialists if we are calling on them to postpone receiving their due remuneration," Grigorova also stated.
She has sent an official inquiry to all municipal hospitals for the exact amounts owed to them by the Sofia Municipality for the first two months of the year. According to the data provided, the amount amounts to 1.52 million. leva, and the unpaid funds seriously hinder the work of healthcare facilities in the capital.
