The opening of the flight training of second-year cadets - pilots - will take place at the Higher Air Force School (VVVU) "Georgi Benkovski" in Dolna Mitropolia. This was announced by the higher school, quoted by BTA.

The flight training will begin on the newly acquired helicopter "CABRI G2" and on the aircraft "ZLIN 242 L". Both types of aircraft have very good safety indicators and fully meet the requirements of the European Aviation Safety Agency. They are used worldwide for training. They will enable the pilot cadets to begin their initial flight training, mastering skills and tactics that will be critical for the successful execution of their future missions, the university emphasizes.

Last year, the "Georgi Benkovski" Military Aviation Academy acquired two "CABRI G2" helicopters after the school was allocated earmarked funds by a decree of the Council of Ministers in 2023. Following a public procurement procedure, the school acquired two new training helicopters manufactured in France.

The "ZLIN 242 L" were donated by the Air Force for the purpose of performing the first flight training of the cadets at the “Georgi Benkovski“ Air Force Academy.

The regular admission campaign at the Air Force Academy began on April 7, and will last until June 20.

For the 2025/2026 academic year, the declared places for training of cadets are 66. The Air Force Academy offers training in eight specialties for students and nine military specializations for cadets. 19 places are announced for “aviator-pilot“, of which 16 for the Ministry of Defense and three for the Ministry of Interior.
