A sheep pox outbreak has been registered on a farm with 13 sheep in the Svilengrad village of Kapitan Andreevo.
This is the reason why the regional epizootic commission is urgently meeting in the Haskovo regional administration today, bTV specified.
The outbreak is primary and appears after no epidemic manifestations of the disease have been detected in the country for three months.
In the land of the village of A 3-kilometer protection zone and a 10-kilometer surveillance zone have already been designated for Kapitan Andreevo, which includes the villages of Generalovo and Chernodub, as well as Svilengrad.
Measures have been taken to control and eradicate the disease, and the farmer has provided full cooperation.
The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) reminds that small ruminant pox does not pose a danger to humans, but when it spreads, it causes significant economic damage to livestock farmers.
