Each of the readings of the president's move on the referendum has its own audience. This leads to an extremely serious division. Everyone will recognize one of the explanations, will enter their own territory and will remain there.
This was stated by political scientist Georgi Kiryakov after President Rumen Radev's request to submit to parliament a proposal for holding a referendum on the adoption of the euro.
According to the political scientist, the head of state's proposal is a real postponement of the possibility of adopting the euro in the future and not adopting it at all in the distant future.
One of the surprises is the position of ITN. It is possible that due to the ambiguity, this could be the factor that will bring down the government, he pointed out, and did not rule out the collapse of the ruling majority "with some cry of "Macedonia".
"It is less likely that a crack will appear in the BSP. Because this is the other BSP - much more willing to sacrifice to take actions that are not so beneficial for the party and their voters."
One of the unwanted goals achieved by Radev is the unification of the right. This is a topic that will unite these people, the political scientist reports in an interview for the program "Predi visi".
In front of the Bulgarian National Radio, Kiryakov defined Radev's actions as "an immoderate move by the president, made in conditions of some mystery", and this raises the question "why did he rush on May 9".
Radev has already reaped political benefits, but this has positioned him in a camp in which it was not good to be included. He radicalized society so much that he divided it in two, commented Georgi Kiryakov. On this debate, the bloody debate will continue until our admission to the eurozone, he predicts.
If the president succeeds in this initiative, he will seize the topic from "Vazrazhdane". If he takes action on his own party project, it will be at the expense of "Vazrazhdane", which is why they were obliged to make this type of intrigue – that this is their topic, that they are lobbying for this, and they decided to regain the initiative, believes Georgi Kiryakov.
According to him, the BSP is in a desperate situation because for many years the president has been undermining the socialist party, including with the claims that he will seize its electorate and this will also happen with "Vazrazhdane".
From a possible project by Rumen Radev, all parties that are against European integration will lose, he emphasized.
The parties that now have a majority will again have a majority in the Grand National Assembly – what will change, asked Kiryakov in connection with the launched idea that if the National Assembly does not vote to hold a referendum on the eurozone, a referendum to initiate a Grand National Assembly should be initiated.
