There will be blockades in front of all depots and bus garages in the capital. This is another protest since the beginning of the year. Earlier, intersections were blocked, there was also a protest in front of the parliament.
„The application that we have sent to the Sofia Municipality and the SDVR is from 4:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., but this does not mean that we will be satisfied with this period. If there is no agreement, if there is no invitation from the municipality to continue negotiations, for new proposals to increase the workers' salaries, we can continue for days“, commented Ivan Kirilov, chairman of the Federation of Transport Workers “Podkrepa“ to bTV.
According to him, all ground public transport will be stopped tomorrow morning. He pointed out that “Metropolitan“ tomorrow morning may be the last time it will operate during the protests - the next time the metro will also stop working.
Ivan Kirilov apologized to the citizens for the inconvenience caused, but stated that an increase in the pay of transport workers is necessary.
Alexander Shopov, chairman of the Federation of Transport Trade Unions at the Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions, also called for higher salaries.
“If anyone thinks that the discontent will subside, this will not happen. The next step is an effective strike and then all transport in Sofia will be stopped,“ Shopov pointed out.
According to him, the increase of 100 leva is extremely insufficient against the background of all the prices that are rising.
