In connection with a report of pollution on the Iskar River in the area of the town of Novi Iskar on May 13, the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water – Sofia (RIEW – Sofia) immediately sent a team for inspection and notified the Basin Directorate, the regional directorate announced.
Cooperation was also requested from the Executive Environment Agency (EEA) to take water samples from the river.
The pollution was noticed from the rope bridge over the river in the Kurilo district, the inspectors said. After the inspection, the RIEW – Sofia will notify about its results.
At the end of April, the experts from the RIEW informed about another report of pollution - on the Slivnishka River in the area of the town of Kostinbrod. The inspection found gray-white staining in the area of the new Sofia - Dragoman railway line, Slivnitsa Municipality, as well as at a wastewater collector, part of the sewage system of the city of Slivnitsa.
