"We resolved the issue of transport in Sofia so that we would not fail the children's matriculation exams today. If the mayor cannot form a majority and seeks an excuse for everything, he should resign", said GERB leader Boyko Borisov on the sidelines of the National Assembly, quoted by Nova TV.
"The protest of public transport in Sofia was announced a month ago, and the issue has already been resolved. Otherwise, they would have failed the children's matriculation exams today. They did not negotiate with the unions for a month, we are not participating in the protests. This is an absolute lie. If the mayor believes that the money allocated by the cabinet is not needed and was thrown out of the jeep, he should return it to the Ministry of Finance and do whatever he decides. We will not solve problems of other groups that want money. The intervention of the state was a wrong decision, but it was made due to the incompetence of the mayor, who could not build a majority in the SOS, I am not to blame for Bonev leaving them. I do not have a majority in parliament either, but we are working. If the mayor cannot build a majority and is looking for an excuse for everything, he should resign", Borisov also commented.
According to him, a solution to the crisis was reached after he heard that the metro was also preparing for a protest and decided to talk to the prime minister. "I told him to do something. Zhelyazkov invited Mayor Terziev to a meeting and he told him that it was none of the cabinet's business. And the unions refused to back down. That's why we talked in the SOS to make a decision on the issue. If the PP-DB is not an opposition in parliament and supports the budget, we will provide them with funds in the SOS," Borisov said.
