"The economic majority" is the convenient chewing gum that is used as an excuse for the managerial weakness of this administration." This was commented on "From the Day" on BNT by the municipal councilor from the BSP - Sofia Ivan Takov.
He commented on the scandals in the Sofia Municipal Council regarding the Sofia budget:
"We see the mayor's inability to govern. The Municipal Council should not be a rubber stamp on his decisions. For the first time in 12 years, it has happened to me that a mayor or deputy mayor for finance did not request a meeting to support the budget or at least listen to our proposals".
According to him, the capital's budget is just over 3 billion leva and he hopes that this time Sofia residents will receive a better capital program. He also explained that a large part of the funds - over 1 billion leva - are earmarked for teachers' salaries and other state-delegated activities. The capital program amounts to about 670 million leva, and 312 million are earmarked for cleanliness.
"We have also included 15 million in the budget in response to those 15 million (for public transport - ed.), which will be enough to increase the salaries of all employees from April 1 by 300 leva. This will not solve the accumulated problems, but it will solve a fire that was lit months ago", said Takov.
According to the municipal councilor, the lack of workers in public transport is not only because of salaries:
"More than 6 months ago we voted for a loan of 15 million leva to improve conditions in electric and road transport. This money has not yet been allocated by the Sofia Municipality. There is no reason - it was voted in last year's budget. 300 million remained from the capital program - they could not allocate 15".
Asked if a garbage crisis was coming in Sofia, Takov commented that the BSP warned about this 6 months ago and asked Vasil Terziev why he had not launched the new competitions for the selection of cleaning companies.
"He launched them at the end of March, and such a procedure lasts at least a year", Takov explained.
