"I am not left with the impression that President Radev is against the euro. I follow his statements - he always emphasizes how ready our country is".
This was said by BSP MP Atanas Atanasov, quoted by FOCUS.
He also commented on the protest march for preserving the Bulgarian currency from yesterday. In his words, regardless of the attendance at such events, they show not only the dissatisfaction of the people, but also the lack of sufficient information on certain topics.
"For the last four years, the state has been practically absent, not only for our electorate, but for all people, it is difficult for them to believe that the state will take care of them when switching from the lev to the euro. Yesterday at the protest, I saw with my own eyes people who are scared of the transition and entry into the eurozone," said Atanasov.
In his words, such a political situation opens the door for populist movements and leaders who take advantage of people's fears. He described the latest actions of President Radev Atanasov as a chance to have a frank conversation about the future of Bulgaria.
"We are not just talking about fighting speculation - rather, it is about measures to protect consumers from speculation that may occur after the adoption of the euro. "I see an opportunity to talk about the things we haven't been able to do in the last four or five years," he added.
In his words, regardless of the attendance at such events, they show not only people's dissatisfaction, but also the lack of sufficient information on this topic.
