Boris Bonev: The funds from paid parking should go to the budget of the Sofia Municipality, not to the Central Government - 1

When we were in office, we were forced to comply with our partners. We no longer have such restrictions and it is time to implement the measures we promised. Parking measures are within the powers of the Sofia Municipality. This was commented on by the leader of "Save Sofia" Boris Bonev in the show "The Day Begins" on BNT.

According to him, six years ago "Save Sofia" proposed the introduction of a "red zone".

The price of the blue zone has not been changed since 2012, and during this time salaries in Sofia have increased 3 times, Bonev explained. And he pointed out: The goal is for paid parking to be organized in such a way that there are always about 20% free spaces.

The municipal councilor added that the new measures also provide for a change in the working hours of the zones. "The paid zones should start operating from 9:00 in the morning, so that parents can drop their children off at kindergarten and school without worrying about sanctions. Another idea is to have free parking spaces for 15 minutes, an SMS is sent for use", Boris Bonev also said.

According to him, the Center for Urban Mobility is more successful in maintaining its marking zones than the Sofia Municipality. "We have planned for the money that will be collected not to go to the CGM, but to go to the municipality's budget. The funds will go to the construction of parking lots, the purchase of buses and the repair of sidewalks in which the zones are located. Capital investments for visible results for people," Bonev explained.
