Interior Minister Daniel Mitov held talks at FBI headquarters  - 1

Interior Minister Daniel Mitov and the Bulgarian delegation he led in the US visited FBI headquarters, where they held several talks, dariknews.bg reported.

This was announced on their official Facebook page by the Main Directorate “Fighting Organized Crime“.

The delegation held talks with Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Daniel Bongino, and the Director of the Main Directorate, Chief Commissioner Boyan Raev, also participated in them, the directorate indicated.

Among the topics discussed were cybersecurity, the fight against the spread of drugs and precursors, as well as the conduct of joint training and training initiatives between Bulgarian and American police officers and the exchange of an attempt to more effectively counter crime, terrorism and hybrid threats.

Special attention was paid to challenges facing the Euro-Atlantic security system arising from the changed geopolitical situation and the threats from the introduction of new technologies, the press center of the General Directorate of Security and Counterterrorism announced.

Minister Mitov and the Bulgarian delegation also held working meetings with the heads and experts of the FBI's criminal investigation and counterterrorism departments. They mainly talked with them about organized crime groups from the Balkans that operate on the territory of the United States, as well as about new terrorist threats.

The Bulgarian delegation was acquainted with the risks posed to minors and juveniles by the so-called "764 terrorist groups" - a decentralized extremist transnational network for sexual extortion, animal abuse and incitement to self-harm or suicide.

Chief Commissioner Raev pointed out to FBI experts that the Directorate General for Combating Organized Crime also worked to counter such crimes.

Chief Commissioner Boyan Raev expressed special gratitude to the Foreign Representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the USA Ivaylo Genkov for their contribution to the successful cooperation between the two countries and the coordination between the services at all levels. Before his appointment, Genkov was also an employee of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime.

Chief Commissioner Boyan Raev also thanked Stefka Yovcheva, who is currently the acting head of our embassy in Washington, the press center of the Directorate General for Combating Organized Crime also reported.
