The second Bulgarian F16 Block 70 fighter jet will dock today at the "Graf Ignatievo" airbase in Plovdiv, the Ministry of Defense confirmed to bTV.
The aircraft has already taken off from the Royal Air Force base in "Mildenhall".
The aircraft took off from the USA, where it was manufactured by the manufacturer "Lockheed Martin", at the end of April. It is not clear why its arrival in Bulgaria was delayed.
The first of the ordered F-16 Block 70 fighters was officially accepted into service at a ceremony at the airbase in the village of Graf Ignatievo on April 13 this year.
In 2019, Bulgaria signed a contract for 1.2 billion dollars to acquire eight F-16 fighters. In 2021, eight more were ordered, which should be received by 2027.
