The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has no official information about the case in Munich, in which, according to information from the German "Bild", a Bulgarian woman attacked passersby with a knife on the street and was shot. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev on public television.

The attack was carried out at around 8 p.m. local time in the Theresienwiese area, near the place where Oktoberfest is held every autumn. The woman first attacked a 56-year-old man and slightly injured him. Then she attacked a 25-year-old woman - she injured her, but without danger to her life. The police reacted quickly and detained the attacker. During the arrest, the Bulgarian woman continued to threaten the uniformed officers with a knife, which is why she was shot.

She was immediately taken to hospital, where she underwent surgery, but later died.

According to information from FOCUS Online, the Bulgarian woman lived in the area of the attack, was known to the police and had previously been investigated for other crimes.

There is no information about the attacker's motive so far. According to information from “Bild“, the woman had mental problems.

Regarding the positive assessments of Bulgaria's accession to the eurozone from January 1, 2026 in the two convergence reports, the minister said that the assessments are the result of many years of consistent work. “We have dealt with many crises along the way so far, so that the reports can be positive“, said Georg Georgiev.

Asked how he would comment on the president's words that the convergence reports are a joy for those in power and a worry for the people, Georg Georgiev said that the only thing that what was said shows is that the content of the reports has not been understood, if they have been read.

“The reports always come out with recommendations and findings, but the fact is that the report says one thing: Bulgaria is ready, its economy is prepared, its financial system is prepared, its political stability allows it to enter the eurozone”, believes Georgiev.

On the topic of the European integration of the Western Balkans, the minister said that there is no conversation, direction, action that could have been taken for us to defend our vision regarding the European integration process of the Western Balkans and specifically in the relations with our southwestern neighbor, and which have not been made.

"Our role is to ensure that the EU continues to adhere to the European consensus, I talked to my Austrian colleague, there is no retreat, not even an inch from this, it must do the RSM - change its Constitution and fulfill the set criteria", added Georg Georgiev.

He once again stated that no country has received its EU membership for nothing, and the EU will not allow doubts in its position by circumventing the rules.
