25 Bulgarians who are in Israel have sought assistance from our embassy there.
Slavena Gergova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of our country to Israel, told the Bulgarian National Radio that until 8:00 p.m. tomorrow evening a state of emergency has been declared in the country and the airspace is closed. The recommendation to Bulgarians there is to remain calm and strictly adhere to the instructions of the authorities.
"Strictly adhere to the instructions of the Israeli security authorities, regularly inform themselves about the situation in the country, and remain calm - this is extremely important. "Ben Gurion Airport" is closed, all flights are currently canceled until 8:00 p.m. tomorrow. The airspace is closed," Gergova said.
She reported that 25 Bulgarian citizens residing in Israel for a short period of time have contacted the embassy:
"We are in touch with them. They have been informed about what should be done in this situation and in practice they are staying here under the same conditions as long-term residents. They are located near a shelter and are following the recommendations of the local authorities. There are 25 Bulgarians for whom we have data that they are on Israeli territory as short-term residents.
For the time being, they have not missed their flights, some of them have upcoming – there are flights for Sunday, there are others whose flights are for Monday, but they have contacted us to let us know that they are here and to keep them in mind in the context of the whole situation. The situation is as you see it. The airspace is closed, the airport too, we are waiting to see what the developments will be and then the possible steps will be taken".
