Dragomir Stoynev: There is no direct risk to Bulgaria's national security - 1

"There is no direct risk to Bulgaria's national security and we believe that in this extremely dynamic political environment Bulgaria must defend its positions to achieve peace through diplomatic means". This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by Dragomir Stoynev, chairman of the BSP-OL parliamentary group:

"We also need very clear analyses of how this conflict will affect the economy of Bulgaria, the economy of Europe. The IEA's signals about strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities are alarming. Of course, if we are talking about a new type of refugee wave, the country must be prepared and Europe must also be prepared. There are indeed many question marks".

In an interview for the program "Nedelya 150" on the "Horizon" program, the chairman of the BSP-OL parliamentary group commented on the topic of increasing defense spending:

"In no case will we agree to drastically increase defense spending, given that we still have severe social inequalities that need to be resolved, but on the other hand, we are also the oldest party and we see that the Bulgarian army also needs urgent modernization, so funds are needed. We see that the problems in Europe are very serious. Maybe except for two - three armies of the European Union member states, it is unlikely that the others are in full combat readiness. We strongly hope that it will not come to that."

"Police arbitrariness is completely unacceptable", Stoynev emphasized:

"We are against police violence, but let's not forget that this government supported the police, and precisely with the support of the BSP. Our desire was to increase their income and I believe that the demands for Daniel Mitov's resignation are perhaps more politically embellished, because it later turned out that no resignation was requested, but that Minister Mitov was simply being fingered.

The chairman of the BSP-OL parliamentary group provided more clarity on the case of the "house of horrors" in the village of Yagoda:

"The unraveling of the case in the village of Yagoda came precisely because of the pressure of the employees of Minister Borislav Gutsanov, who made an inspection, started checks, the owner saw that he could not meet the requirements, fines began to rain down. He gave up the license. After that, Gutsanov's people did not give up, but made a new attempt to make an inspection, to really see whether people were taken out of these establishments. They did not let them in, then the police were notified and that's how we got to the visible part of the problem".

Regarding the future BSP candidate for the upcoming presidential elections, Stoynev explained:

"Iliyana Yotova is one of the good politicians in the BSP and can really be part of the presidential candidacies that will be presented to the socialists to choose one".
