Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev commented on President Rumen Radev's sharp criticism of joining the eurozone from January 1 in response to a journalistic question.
"Investing in people's fears is not a good policy. This does not lead to anything good, just as investing in hatred only results in more hatred. I think that Bulgarian society, even though it has a strong body, cannot withstand more hatred", said Donchev.
When asked by the Bulgarian National Radio whether it is certain that we will receive the necessary support for membership in the eurozone in the final vote on July 8, Tomislav Donchev said:
"I do not expect unpleasant surprises, but we should not have the illusion that this is the end of the process. If Bulgaria has another government that declares a different priority, no one will force us into the Eurozone".
Bulgaria's ambition is to receive a third payment under the Recovery and Resilience Plan by the end of the year, the Deputy Prime Minister added.
