Political memory is not an accessory. When you abandon it, you become an accomplice. The appointment of Todor Proychev as an advisor in the cabinet of Minister Daniel Mitov (GERB) is a moral retreat. The same Proychev, who in 2013 was part of Tsvetlin Yovchev's team in the Ministry of Interior - a ministry that sent out "support points" to discredit protesters, including beaten students. Tsvetan Tsvetanov wrote this on his Facebook profile and added:
The documents revealed by “Bivol“ and Balkanleaks contain:
• digital signature
• traceable sender
• clearly written author: Todor Proychev
Back then GERB was:
• against the “white bus“
• against repression
• against shamelessness
And today?
Proychev enters the political cabinet of a GERB minister. Without apology. Without explanation.
How will Daniel Mitov – deputy chairman of GERB – explain this to:
• the rank and file members
• the sympathizers who were not appointed, but fought for a better Bulgaria because they believed in causes?
Can we still talk about a “depoliticized Ministry of Interior“, when the same people who served in political repression are today returning to the government through the front door?
If we forget the “white bus“ today, we will get on it voluntarily!
