Parvan Simeonov: "Change" has never been a party in the true sense of the word. They are a network of people - 1

We will only understand what we are witnessing when we see the size. For now, we are witnessing a corruption scandal, and the political significance will be understood in the coming days when we see how far it will go, commented Parvan Simeonov, the founder of the "Myara" agency, in an interview with the Bulgarian National Radio.

"PP has never been a party in the true sense of the word. They are a network of people and this is part of the problem that they do not have mechanisms of cohesion and control to avoid such situations. Different people have been riding the wave of 2021 and some of them did not have pure intentions," Simeonov said in the program "Nesto more".

According to him, the reaction of the DB is correct, not to split, "because Borisov and Peevski categorically benefit from this situation":

"The situation gives the DB the opportunity to balance the relations in the coalition and impose its views - more pragmatic and more reasonable than those of the PP. The PP and the DB are also competitors in a certain sense and the DB gets a chance to take a leading role in the coalition.

Both formations have different support, more PP, but it is more networked and not based on structures and therefore can be lost more easily in a situation like this."
Simeonov believes that the recording deserves a response, and a judicial one at that. "The big problem of the PP is that they tried or tried, I have not witnessed, apparently yes create their clientele like many other parties, because they thought that these were the rules of the game in Bulgaria. There were such accusations against Ivan Kostov, that he was creating a business network to respond to the political realities in Bulgaria. You participate in a political battle, but you get accused of corruption", commented the sociologist.

And he remembered that in 2020 recordings of Borisov himself circulated, "the question of who records whom in Bulgaria is serious and how true is this in the recording".

Simeonov advises not to directly write off the PP and expects there to be a secondary glorification of Petkov and made an analogy with the NMSV.

"And in the first mandate of GERB there were scandals every other day and Borisov was cleaning up these people. The approaches are different, what is a problem for the PP is a blow to the corruption - anti-corruption axis. There are two faults in Bulgaria, one is east - west, around the euro and corruption - anti-corruption, status quo - change. East - West is the more preferable fault line for the DB.

Purely ideologically, the DB is sometimes more likely to come to an understanding with GERB than the PP. There is such a slight fault line and the PP has not been left and right, and the fault line corruption - anti-corruption and failing this exam is dangerous", analyzes the situation Parvan Simeonov.

According to him, there is no particular logic to have elections in the fall, but in our country anything is possible, "because we hear some jealousy from Borisov that he is not the prime minister, and Peevski's appetite will also grow":

"DPS-NN can become one of the two political forces in Bulgaria. They are building their own network and it is pragmatically oriented, just like GERB were building, but they do not have Borisov's charisma. DPS-NN have captured the niche of communities threatened by marginalization and looking for a leader."

Simeonov predicts that there will be more people who have abandoned the PP.

"There is room for a new anti-right project – critical of the Western mainstream, this is where Radev will fit in. The new thing about the PP was that they managed not to be another new project, they managed to win. Once they have raised a wave once, it is difficult for them to do it a second time. I have not witnessed repeated waves, I have been in political lulls," shared the creator and owner of the sociological agency "Myara".
