The Parliament voted today on Kiril Petkov's resignation as an MP, BNT reports. On Monday, the former PP co-chairman submitted his resignation to the National Assembly.
This came to a head after the scandal with municipal mayors and councilors who left the party due to accusations against the leadership of pressure to conclude public procurement contracts with certain companies, the subsequent arrest of Deputy Mayor Nikola Barbutov and the release into the public domain of an audio recording of the conversation between Barbutov and the mayor of "Lyulin" Georgi Todorov.
Thus, Asen Vassilev remained the sole leader of the PP. A new party leadership is expected to be elected in September.
