Our rights were violated repeatedly during the search and afterwards. They didn't let me contact a lawyer, they tried to take my phone. This was told on “This Morning“ on bTV by the wife of the mayor of Varna Blagomir Kotsev – Kamelia Kotseva. She gave more details about what happened.
“When I opened the door, I expected it to be Blago, because he had forgotten his keys. It was a shock for me to see that the corridor of the building was full of men. They asked me if they could come in. I asked them to get dressed and they told me that I could, but not to close the front door. I left and heard someone following me, which was the first shock I experienced“, said Kamelia Kotseva.
“One of the employees came with me to the bedroom and didn't take her eyes off me while I was getting dressed. From there, strange things started happening“, she added.
“The first thing was that apparently the media already knew that there were people at home and my phone kept ringing with messages and calls. I was trying to figure out what was happening on my phone, since the people who came into our house didn't introduce themselves. They noticed this and told me that I had to cut off all communication with the outside world, which was the next shock I experienced“, said Kamelia Kotseva.
„I got the impression that some people felt extremely uncomfortable with what was happening. They genuinely felt uncomfortable talking to me and walking around the apartment“, pointed out Blagomir Kotsev's wife.
„It was precisely this uncertainty in the employees that made me think that things were not happening legally and that my rights were being violated, since the first thing they did was to prohibit me from communicating with the outside world“, she added.
They also limited her ability to call a lawyer.
„The chief employee repeatedly went out to consult on the phone outside the apartment. He himself said – I have to go out and ask what to do,“ Kotseva also said.
Blagomir Kotsev's sister - Bilyana Kotseva, said that they took the children out of the apartment.
“It was terrifying, you couldn't breathe inside because of the people. There were too many“, she said.
She stated in the media that her brother was subjected to “heavy pressure“ to join “DPS-New Beginning“.
“He started his career in 2022. Not everything he did for the city was liked by the economic groups in Varna. It is possible that there was pressure because of his audacity and his attempt to change established rules in the city,“, Bilyana Kotseva explained.
