Dobrin Ivanov (AIKB) on the Euro Law: Fear of sanctions can lead to a shortage of goods - 1

The parliament has not finally adopted the changes to the Euro Law. A second reading is coming in committee and then in plenary. I hope things will be corrected and refined.

This was stated in the program "Denyat na Zievo" on NOVA NEWS by the executive director of AIKB Dobrin Ivanov, who commented on the changes to the Euro Law.

"The fight against speculation is a goal that justifies many of the proposed measures, but fear and repression should not be sought, but conversation and dialogue with business. Naturally, when speculation is discovered, it should be punished. Whether the sanctions should be so harsh is another question. The other thing that worries us is the 17-month period during which price increases are prohibited if there is no economic justification. Who will judge whether there is or is not an economic justification? If the price of bread increases by 10 stotinki, the control authorities come in and establish that there is a justification for increasing the price by 5 stotinki, what do we do? How will it be proven that the economic justification is for an increase by 5 stotinki, and not by 10? ", he asked.

"The fear of sanctions can lead to a shortage of goods, because traders will prefer not to offer the goods, rather than increase prices and be seriously sanctioned. The only way to have normal prices is to have a normal competitive market environment. No administrative measures will yield results, only competition helps. Inflation is growing due to the increase in salaries in the state sector and the increased demand for goods and services," Dobrin Ivanov also said.
