Petar Petrov: It is very likely that we will find ourselves facing new early parliamentary elections at the end of autumn - 1

"We cannot allow there to be no state, no executive power, no Ministry of Interior and no "Fire Safety and Protection of the Population", and no adequate response with technical means and machinery, if necessary with aircraft from the Ministry of Defense, which is obliged to intervene in such cases". This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by Petar Petrov, deputy chairman of "Vazrazhdane", regarding the fires in the country.
"Yesterday I was traveling from Burgas to Sofia. There was a huge fire near Burgas, near Nova Zagora and near Chirpan. I have notified, I have sent photos to the Minister of Internal Affairs, I hope he has taken action, but the very fact that we have to do it means that we do not trust the executive branch. I also see as a citizen that there is currently no state, it is not coping and is not taking preventive measures. Mayors, regional governors are not taking preventive measures to prevent fires from being caused.
"We have expressed the position of "Vazrazhdane" on the topic of closing the Commission for Combating Corruption back when Peevski, together with PP-DB, GERB voted for the creation of this commission, which was the end of September 2023", commented in an interview for the show "Nedelya 150" on the program "Horizont" the deputy chairman of "Vazrazhdane":

"Then we from "Vazrazhdane" voted against. We expressed the position of "Vazrazhdane" when in September 2024 the resignation of Anton Slavchev as head of this commission and the one for conflict of interest was voted on. Then we voted "for" this resignation. The position of "Vazrazhdane" we expressed it even when the first ever bill in the 51st National Assembly under number one was our bill for control of the activities of this Commission for Combating Corruption".
It is very likely that in the late autumn we will find ourselves facing new early parliamentary elections", Petrov added:

"Perhaps this is one of the reasons for rushing with the deputy ombudsman, who is one of the possible acting prime ministers".
