According to him, the only politician who was on the ground when the fires were raging was the president. "The head of state has never been against acquiring equipment, but in whose hands should the equipment be and how much time will it take for training", he added.
When asked why as Minister of Internal Affairs he did not propose to buy specialized firefighting equipment, he replied: "Not once did the National Assembly reach out to the caretaker governments of the president. I submitted many proposals, including for the Volunteerism Law".
