Four firefighting teams extinguished a fire at the landfill in the Plovdiv village of Tsalapitsa. The affected area is about 500 sq m, the press center of the Regional Directorate for "Fire Safety and Population Protection" reported, BTA.
The signal for the burning waste was received at around 5:00 this morning.
When measuring with the mobile station of the "Specialized Operational Activities" Sector (SOD), no levels of air pollution were recorded.
At the moment, the open flame has been extinguished. A bulldozer from the operator, a front-end loader from the SOD sector and four dump trucks, provided by the Plovdiv Municipality, are working on site to eliminate the smoldering areas in depth. Water carriers have also been provided by the municipal enterprise "Chistota".
The on-duty ecologists of the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water in Plovdiv have also been notified.
On August 18, a fire broke out at the landfill in the Plovdiv village of Shishmantsi, no deviations in air quality were recorded.
