The introduction of the euro in Bulgaria will lead to a more efficient administration, less bureaucracy and more electronic services available to every citizen. This was stated in Razgrad by the Minister of Electronic Governance Valentin Mundrov at the opening of an information meeting on the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria. “When we talk about Bulgaria's accession to the eurozone, we are not only talking about currency. We are talking about a system of standards, technologies and integrations that will accelerate the digital transformation of our country“, he added.

The minister emphasized that the adoption of the euro will facilitate e-government and digital transformation by unifying financial transactions and eliminating the need to convert currencies in cross-border payments, ensuring greater transparency and interoperability between Bulgarian and European institutions. “The adoption of the European currency will accelerate the implementation of unified European digital solutions, facilitate electronic payments, increase security and create new conditions for the development of investments in Bulgaria“, he said.

According to the Minister of e-Government, the goal is for all information systems and electronic services to be fully ready by January 1, 2026, in order to guarantee a smooth, predictable and problem-free transition for citizens, businesses and the administration. Valentin Mundrov pointed out that people will feel the change through more convenient electronic services, such as taxes, fees, social payments, which will be made in euros with a high degree of automation and integration between the systems of the institutions.
