Kazakhstan President Kasim-Jomart Tokayev tasked the government to provide quality housing to citizens of the republic affected by large-scale floods. This was announced by the press service of the head of state. “Tokaev listened to a report by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov on the work to eliminate the consequences of the floods and provide assistance to the citizens affected by the disaster, especially to the citizens who are still in evacuation centers. The head of state has ordered to intensify the work in this direction, to provide quality housing to the victims and to start the repair and construction of civil infrastructure in the cities”, the text says.
According to the country's leader, the heads of local executive bodies are obliged to actively and effectively work with citizens, to clearly explain the government's policy and the measures taken to solve emerging problems and justified requests.
At the same time, the government, local authorities, together with law enforcement agencies, must ensure public order in strict accordance with the law.
Since March, due to large-scale floods, more than 119 thousand residents of several regions of Kazakhstan were evacuated. According to the Republican Ministry of Emergencies, more than 61,344 people have returned to their homes, and more than 5,460 remain in temporary accommodation centers.
