The most expensive water park in Central Asia will be built in Uzbekistan and put into operation in 2027. Its value is USD 300 million.
The Grand Serai will feature an array of world-class facilities, including an all-season water park covering 20 hectares of the total 28 hectares on which the park will be located. In addition to it, an amusement park will be built. The complex will also include a hotel, shopping gallery, restaurants and eateries. One of the features of the complex will be a recreational beach area with an artificial sea.
By 2030, the complex will serve 6.7 million people a year. These estimates are based on an analysis of a potential audience living within a 120-minute drive of the theme park.
The experience of theme parks around the world shows their high profitability. The US amusement and theme park market is expected to grow from USD 23.77 billion in 2024 to USD 28.15 billion by 2029, driven by technological innovation, according to analyst firm Mordor Intelligence. For example, in 2022, Disneyland Paris set a new financial record, earning EUR 2.4 billion.
The investor of Grand Serai is the 49-year-old Uzbek businessman Jahongir Artikhodzhaev. His name is well known not only in the business circles of Uzbekistan, but also far beyond its borders. In a relatively short period of time, the entrepreneur managed to build a business spanning many areas, from real estate and hotels to retail and the manufacturing sector.
He started his way with a small business, which today includes dozens of successful enterprises that work not only in Uzbekistan, but also abroad.
In February 2024, Artikhodzhaev announced the sale of seven of his companies, explaining this with the desire to renew and focus on new projects that interest him. However, he continues to be the founder of the J-United Group, which owns a significant number of trademarks. Among the businessman's main assets are Akfa Group, Artel and many others.
