During the renovation season, the Metropolitan Municipality has fined hundreds of thousands of Metropolitan residents for improper disposal of household waste. The furniture is taken to the landfills according to schedule, but the majority of the residents of the capital do not know the rules. Meanwhile, old furniture turned out to be valuable "vintage" finds for many.

It is not known why citizens throw away their old things not in the trash can, but around it, Nova TV reports. It turns out that throwing away old furniture and even toilets is allowed by law, but with the proviso that they are small. "And when I say small, I mean small. 2-3 bags, something like that. A little. Now, if you gut the entire apartment, knock down two walls, remove all the parquet and the tiles from the bathroom and toilet, you need to hire a specialized company," said Emil Georgiev, director of the "Waste Management and Planning" directorate.

Everyone can get rid of unnecessary items according to a certain schedule. On the website of the municipality there is a timetable and a phone number for contacting the bulky waste trucks.

For the first six months of the year alone, the municipality imposed fines in the amount of BGN 102,000. There is no day when a citizen is not fined by the inspectorate. "This is certainly much more than usual, but it is still too little. With 2 million people, BGN 100,000 is 5 cents per person," Emil Georgiev pointed out.

In the renovation season, the most waste is generated. But some don't even bother going down to the trash can and throw directly out the window. Trash for some is treasure for others. For 4 years now, Vladimir, a collector and seller of antique furniture, has been traveling Bulgaria and Europe hunting for discarded items. He finds the most finds at charity auctions in Denmark and sells them for hundreds of BGN, but in our country you can also find something valuable next to the trash. "I have the most of the old industrial chairs. They were everywhere - in laboratories, in medical offices, in schools," he said.
