The three accused of kidnapping a 21-year-old woman in Svilengrad, Petya Daimyanova (44), Kostadin Nikolov (27) and Valentin Marinov (40), remain in custody with a permanent measure of detention in custody.

The measures can be appealed before the Court of Appeal in Plovdiv.

This was ruled by a panel of the District Court - Haskovo, reports BNR, quoted by news.bg.

They are accused by the District Prosecutor's Office of complicity in having kidnapped Katya, a resident of Simeonovgrad, on November 13 Vasileva.

As a reason for the imposed measure, the court indicated that the evidence collected so far, such as inspections, search and seizure reports, witness interviews, as well as the victim's identification of the driver of the car, lead to the reasonable assumption that the accused are the perpetrators of the crime. There is also a risk that they will go into hiding, as well as commit another crime.

We recall that the three were arrested after a report was filed with the police in the morning hours of November 13 that a young woman had been forcibly pushed into a car in front of a hotel in Svilengrad.

In the courtroom, it was learned from the indictment that Nikolov held the 21-year-old woman and dragged her into a car driven by Valentin Marinov, in which Petya Daimyanova was also present. Later, two of the kidnappers and the victim were found in a house in the Svilengrad village of Mustrak, and the third attacker was detained in a car on the "Maritsa" highway.

According to the indictment of the prosecutor's office, Nikolov and the kidnapped Vasileva had an intimate relationship. The action was aimed at showing respect. Nikolov doubted that she was the reason for the frequent police checks against him.

The crime committed by Nikolov and Daimyanova is punishable by law by "deprivation of liberty" from seven to 15 years. They acted in conditions of dangerous recidivism, the prosecutor in the case emphasized. The two have been convicted multiple times for crimes of a general nature and have effective prison sentences.

Nikolov was released from prison in April 2024, and Daimyanova - at the end of the year, the representative of the state prosecution also said. The prosecutor pointed out that the third defendant - Valentin Marinov - was also convicted and rehabilitated a little over a year ago.

The defendants asked the court for lighter measures - cash bail or house arrest.
