On Children's Day, the police in Varna organized a search for minors in discotheques and bars. The Regional Health Inspectorate in the city also joined the action to find out if alcohol is being sold to teenagers.
Midnight police checks paid off as a total of 12 underage youths were found who had decided to party after midnight. The Ministry of the Interior issued warning protocols to all of them. In addition to minors, the police also checked for drug distribution.
A little after midnight, policemen entered bars and discotheques on the promenade in Varna. The uniformed officers mostly checked for minors in the establishments, as well as for the distribution of drugs, specifies Nova TV.
Minutes after the start of the action, unaccompanied persons under the age of 18 were already found in the first establishment. Some customers were surprised, but most approved the inspections. And in order to check whether alcohol is being sold to teenagers, the Regional Health Inspectorate took part in the action, and found no violations.
"During the specialized police operation this evening, 12 unaccompanied minors were found. And the police officers drew up protocols for a police warning to their parents," said Svetla Zlateva, spokesperson for the Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - Varna.
And the protocols are a warning, because of the recent changes in the law, which state that minors must carry with them a pre-filled declaration by a parent according to a model. However, the Ministry of the Interior is adamant that there will be fines during subsequent inspections.
