Sofia District Prosecutor's Office handed over to court former police officer S.R. for the fact that on 07/05/2022, in the city of Sofia, in his capacity as a police authority - a junior inspector-policeman in the “Protection of public order“ of the “Security Police“ to 01 RU-SDVR, assisted the person Georgi Semerdzhiev, defendant for a crime committed under Art. 343, para. 3, ex. 1, alt. 2, ex. 2, alt. 2, ex. 3, ex. 4, b. “B“, cf. art. 343, para. 1, b. “C“, cf. art. 342, para. 1, item 3 of the Criminal Code, to thwart criminal prosecution against him.
The act the accused S.R. carried out by providing a metal ladder, with which Georgi Semerdzhiev climbed up to the terrace of his apartment in the city of Sofia, went inside and hid.
In the course of the pre-trial proceedings, sufficient evidence was collected for the authorship and guilt of the accused for the crime under Art. 294, para. 4, para. 1 of the Criminal Code, which is why the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office submitted the case to the Sofia District Court with an indictment.
Eighteen witnesses were questioned during the pre-trial proceedings, expertises were appointed, material evidence and relevant documents were collected, the SRP press center announced.
