Almost 1 million dollars were found on the "Captain Andreevo" in the seats of a bus traveling from Ukraine

Near 940,000 undeclared US dollars were discovered by the customs officials during an inspection of a bus leaving the country through the "Captain Andreevo" checkpoint. The violation was discovered within the framework of the joint operation between the authorities of the "Customs" Agency, DG "Combating Organized Crime", DG "Border Police" and the National Revenue Agency to combat smuggling.

On August 5, at the border crossing, “Captain Andreevo“ a bus with Turkish registration arrives. In the vehicle driven by a Turkish citizen, 28 passengers traveled from Ukraine through Bulgaria to Turkey.

They all said they were not carrying cash to declare. According to the “risk analysis“ the bus was selected for a thorough customs inspection, including with X-ray equipment, where unusual densities were noted in the seats of the passenger compartment. During the subsequent physical control, after dismantling four of the seats, it was found that a metal box was installed between the foam and the wooden bottom of the seats, where a large amount of US dollar bills were hidden. The total amount of the established currency is 939,800 US dollars with the BGN equivalent of 1,676,170 BGN

In the case, a pre-trial proceeding was initiated by an investigative customs inspector.
