Drugs and hundreds of thousands of BGN in various currencies were found in a man during an inspection in the center of Sofia, bTV reports, citing its sources.
The 40-year-old man was detained when SDVR officers stopped him for a check.
He handed over 4 packages of drugs, including cocaine, to the uniformed officers. The man's addresses were also searched.
An electronic scale was found in an apartment in Sofia, and a total of BGN 400,000 in various currencies was found in several hiding places. In another property of the man, another scale was found, as well as more money.
The SDVR confirmed that there are such cases and said that pre-trial proceedings have been initiated.
On Saturday, the prosecution indicted three Bulgarians for the attempt to traffic a large amount of cocaine and marijuana through the checkpoint “Captain Andreevo” in the direction of Turkey.
They were detained on August 7, when 22.08 kg of marijuana were found during two checks by customs officials at the checkpoint, respectively in factory cavities and in three specially built caches of a car.
And during a personal examination of two female passengers in a car, a total of 8,760 kg of cocaine was found in packages stuck with an elastic belt around the waist.
For the marijuana worth BGN 353,280, the accused is the man N.A. (22 years), and the synthetic drug are accused R.A. (25 years old) with 4,370 kg of cocaine with a total value of BGN 786,600, and Z.D. (42 years old) with 4,390 kg of cocaine with a total value of BGN 790,200.
