A Bulgarian woman who allegedly worked as a prostitute in Germany has been missing since nearly two months. Although the police have not yet found a body, a 73-year-old man suspected of her murder has been detained in the case, BILD newspaper reports, quoted by BTA.
Katina Kirilova-Putela gained fame in the media as "the Bulgarian with a heart tattoo”. The woman disappeared near Bammersdorf in the German federal state of Bavaria. Her relatives reported her missing after they were unable to make contact with her. The day after that, criminal police began searching for her – so far unsuccessful. However, there are indications that she was murdered.
On Friday, Bamberg's criminal police and prosecutor's office confirmed they were investigating an alleged murder.
"The suspicion of the woman's murder was very soon directed at a 73-year-old man from the district of Forchheim,”, the publication wrote in an article from mid-August and emphasized that an arrest warrant had been issued against him for alleged murder. Suspect Josef Georg Heimrath is believed to have been her client. He remains in custody, adds the publication.
It is claimed that Katina Kirilova-Putela last visited Heimrath in Egolsheim, after which she disappeared. During the investigation, "insignificant things occurred which, however, gave rise to urgent suspicions,”, a police spokesman explained.
The missing Bulgarian woman and Heimrath met in the Red Lantern District.
A special commission with 30 investigators was established in the case. In the coming weeks, there will be numerous interviews, securing the tracks and expanding the search for the 33-year-old.
