Contraband 1305 grams of silver and 45 grams of gold jewels were discovered by the customs officers of the Malko Tarnovo customs point during an inspection of a car entering the country.
The undeclared precious metal items were hidden in various places in the vehicle and in personal luggage, including medicine packages.
The passenger car with Romanian registration arrived at the border at Malko Tarnovo on November 2nd, having entered from the Turkish side and traveling to Romania. The car was driven by a Romanian citizen. In the customs control area, she announced that she was not carrying anything to declare. During the customs check, the inspectors found a total of 12 packages wrapped in dark tape and paper in different places in the interior of the car and in luggage bags.
Some of them were placed in packages of medicines in personal luggage, as well as in a bag of tools in the trunk of the car. 7 of the packages were found to contain white metal jewelery and the other 5 were found to contain yellow metal jewellery. According to the expertise carried out by an expert, 1,305 grams of the jewelry are made of silver, and 45 grams are gold jewelry with a total value of over BGN 15,000. Undeclared silver and gold articles are detained. An act of administrative violation was issued to the Romanian citizen.
Nearly 18 kg of contraband silver and gold ornaments were detained by the customs officials of the border crossing "Malko Tarnovo". since the beginning of the year. The undeclared precious metal items were most often hidden among personal belongings and household goods in the luggage of travelers entering the country from Turkey. Violators are both foreign and Bulgarian citizens.
