A drunk and drugged 20-year-old young man from the village of Zamfirovo in the municipality of Berkovitsa and his company beat up a 56-year-old snowplow driver on road III-8104 between the villages of Zamfirovo and Parlichevo in the municipality of Berkovitsa, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Montana announced.

At 8.45 am yesterday, a traffic accident occurred on the road without injuries, in which a car driven by a 20-year-old from Zamfirovo and two snowplows – „Man“ collided and a “Mercedes“, driven by drivers aged 56 and 65 from Berkovitsa and owned by companies from the village of Gintsi, Sofia region.

After the accident, the driver of the passenger car pulled one of the drivers, aged 56, out of the truck and, together with other young men from the company, beat him up, the police added.

A check of the young man in question found that he had been driving after consuming alcohol - 1.32 per mille was measured in his exhaled breath and several types of drugs - cocaine, cannabis, amphetamine, methadone and benzodiazepines.

The young man was detained for 24 hours, as well as two others, aged 21 from the village of Zamfirovo and the village of Doktor Yosifovo in the Montana municipality, who are alleged to have participated in the beating. The injured snowplow driver was taken to hospital and after examination was released for home treatment.

Two pre-trial criminal proceedings have been initiated in the case.
