A criminally exposed and convicted man was detained for possession of over a kilogram of cocaine, announced at a briefing in Burgas, District Prosecutor Georgi Chinev. A preventive measure of "detention in custody" was taken against the detainee, BTA indicated.
The same was detained in the Burgas village of Marinka. He was monitored and developed for nearly a year. Special intelligence tools were used, said Commissioner Radi Penev, head of department at the Main Directorate "Fighting Organized Crime" in Burgas.
In the village, the detainee has three land properties, where he built caches in which he kept the narcotics. In one of the caches, one kilogram of cocaine was found, and in himself 200 grams of the same narcotic substance. Numerous procedural actions have been taken. The man has two effective convictions in the past. He has no work commitments. He lives in very expensive properties, drives luxury vehicles of the highest class, which can only lead to the question of where the funds for purchasing all this came from, Penev pointed out.
The quantity in question, about one kilogram and 200 grams of cocaine, is traded on the free market for nearly 100,000 leva. This is a serious amount, which also implies a fairly serious market, the police commented.
The charge is for possession with the aim of distributing high-risk narcotics, as the legislator has provided for this criminal activity with a penalty of 1 to 6 years of imprisonment and a cumulative fine of up to 10,000 leva, Chinev specified.
