New Fraudulent Scheme - 1

A new fraud scheme. This time, a man posed as a police officer and "fined" an elderly driver who had stopped on the road. The fraudster took all his money so that he would not be issued a ticket, Nova TV reports.

A few days ago, 79-year-old Dimitar was returning to Montana. He had to stop briefly before the city. Suddenly, a young man appeared next to him, who introduced himself as Police Officer Neshev.

"You violated sign 138 in connection with...". And I don't understand everything, he speaks quickly. I have been a driver for 50 years and I have never seen such a sign 138. He told me: "The fine is 150 leva". He was wearing a jacket, a little dirty," he says Dimitar Dimitrov. He asked the policeman to write him a report after he had broken the law.

„We won't write, pay, because it will get worse”. I told him that I didn't have that much money. He answered me: „I don't know, find it and get it fixed”, says Dimitar.

He took his phone and they left in the imaginary policeman's car to withdraw money in Montana. In front of the ATM, the elderly man realized that his card was missing. And they returned to his car, where he remembered that he had hidden savings.

„I started counting. And he told me that there were a group of 6 or 7 people, there should be some for them too”, says the man.

So he gave his savings of 650 leva, having already suspected that the person against him was not real policeman.

“After he told me, I am policeman Neshev and he did not show me an ID, and the policemen always show me an ID and I said to myself, it's nothing, and when I looked at him, he was twice as big as me in kilograms”, says the victim.

After a few days, he filed a police report. The fake policeman was found and detained. He also returned the money.

“He made him believe that if he did not give him 650 leva, restrictive measures would be taken against him. The elderly man was scared, he was deceived. My recommendation to people is not to trust people who present themselves as employees of the Ministry of Interior and in any case in which they suspect that something is wrong, to look for us”, said Chief Inspector Petko Shumanski, Head of the Police Department Montana.

And Dimitar also gives his advice. "They should not panic, but calculate how they will most safely part with the abusers. Then the police will know and will find them 100%," says Dimitar.
