"I counted at least 8 violations. And the police wrote them a warning protocol", said a driver who filmed the trucks with dangerous behavior on the road.
Three trucks with Turkish registration were speeding at a speed of about 120 kilometers per hour on the route from Vratsa to Sofia, where the limit is 80 kilometers per hour. According to witnesses, this happened despite repeated reports filed to the 112 phone. The trucks were overtaking at a risk and creating a real danger for other road users.
Rosen Evtimov is a truck driver who filmed the dangerous situation on the road. In "Hello, Bulgaria" he said that his route was on the road from Vidin to Sofia. The driver was returning from England.
"I noticed the trucks moving at a dangerously high speed on the Montana-Vratsa section in the rear-view mirror. They were constantly and incorrectly overtaking the column that had gathered," he explained.
According to him, in an attempt to prevent an accident, he made several calls to the 112 telephone number - the first after Vratsa, and the last - only 20 kilometers before Sofia. However, there was only a reaction from the authorities at the entrance to the capital, where the trucks were stopped by a team of “Traffic Police“.
“The drivers of the Turkish trucks behaved like 90s punks on the road“, added Evtimov, who explained that he has many years of experience behind the wheel and millions of kilometers traveled throughout Europe. According to him, the trucks not only drove aggressively, but also made traffic difficult along the entire stretch, not allowing anyone to overtake them. In the most dangerous cases, they moved cab to cab, even on a railway crossing, with oncoming traffic.
According to the official position of the SDVR, Evtimov's signal was received and there was an immediate reaction when the trucks were within the territory of Sofia. The actions, or lack thereof, of the other police departments through whose territories the violators passed are not commented on. During the inspection, it became clear that the trucks were transporting expensive equipment. There was no team on duty from the Executive Agency “Automobile Administration“. All documentation will be handed over to the IAAA so that a sanction can be imposed in accordance with the due process.
“For such behavior, I counted at least 8 violations under the Road Traffic Act. And they wrote them a warning protocol. Is this the standard of road control in Bulgaria?“, Evtimov asked.
