The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) celebrates May 24 today - The day of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture and of Slavic literature, with a solemn assembly, BTA reported.

The event will take place in the hall "Prof. Marin Drinov" (Str. “15th November” 1), announced the press center of the scientific institution.

The celebration will be opened with a welcome from the chairman of the BAS academic Julian Revalski. The writer Georgi Gospodinov, who is a corresponding member of the BAS, will deliver an academic speech for the holiday.

Interior version of the exhibition "Once and now. The glorification of the Cyril and Methodius work in the modern world" of the Cyril and Methodius Scientific Center of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences will be exhibited in the Central Foyer of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences from May 23 to 31, 2024. The posters of the exhibition mark some of the places associated with the turning points in the work of the holy brothers and their students.< /p>

BTA reminds that also in 2023 BAS organized a solemn meeting on the occasion of the Day of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Slavic alphabet, education and culture and of Slavic literature, which took place in the hall "Prof. Marin Drinov". At the celebration, the awards for young scientists “Professor Marin Drinov” and for the youngest scientists “Ivan Evstratiev Geshov” for 2022

The prizes were awarded by the General Assembly (GA) for achievements in nine scientific fields. The chairman of the Board of Directors, art.-cor. Evelina Slavcheva and the Mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova presented the awards. 22 young scientists were awarded for their achievements in the past year. The winners of the “Professor Marin Drinov” have an educational and scientific degree “doctor” and are under 35 years of age. The winners of the “Ivan Evstratiev Geshov” the youngest scientists have the educational degree “master” and are aged up to 30 years. The two awards for young scientists were established by the BAS in 1996. The aim is to discover and stimulate talented researchers at the BAS, to support their development, growth and international contacts, the scientific institution noted at the time.
