Official Minister of Culture Nayden Todorov presented last night on the stage of the Summer Theater in Varna the “Golden Age“ – necklace of the opera prima Sonia Yoncheva, BTA reported.
The award is for her exceptional contribution to the development and consolidation of Bulgarian culture and national identity.
We live in a very strange time, we look for reasons to be different, to fight with each other, to disagree with each other, Minister Todorov said. According to him, the reason is that something is missing inside us - the pride of who we are and what we are. Still, there are people who remind us of it, they make us proud and happy with their presence, Todorov pointed out. And he added that he thanked Sonia Yoncheva for being exactly one of those who make us proud to be Bulgarians.
The awarding ceremony for the primate took place after the production of “Madame Butterfly”, in which she was a soloist. Giacomo Puccini's opera was directed by Nina Naydenova, and Nayden Todorov was the conductor.
