Today actor Tim Robbins celebrates his 76th birthday.

He was born on October 16, 1958 in West Covina, California and raised in New York's Greenwich Village, having a long and successful career as an actor, director, screenwriter, and film and theater producer.

He most recently directed Actors Gang in their shockingly modern and highly successful adaptation of George Orwell's 1984, which over the past 2 years. has visited over 40 countries on 4 continents.

Robbins' stage adaptation of "The Death Row Comes" is represented in over 140 universities across the country. The rights to perform the play were exclusively given to educational institutions until 2014. To acquire the rights to the play, universities must have two faculties, other than theater arts, that offer courses on the death penalty. All over the country and the world over the past 4 years. symposia, lectures and debates have been held in conjunction with theatrical productions leading to a significant increase in dialogue and education on this important issue.

Robbins is also proud to sponsor educational programs with the Actors Gang, which provides arts education to students of all grades in the Los Angeles area. The troupe has been working for the past 3 years. having also provided theater workshops for inmates of the Los Angeles prison system.

Robbins lives in New York, and until 2009 he was married to actress Susan Sarandon, with whom he has two sons - Miles and Jack.
