A video of a phenomenon resembling a falling meteor was sent to BNT by viewer Emilian Hristov.

The video was shot in Sofia around 9:20 p.m. last night.

In front of BNT, astrophysicist Assoc. Kamen Kozarev explained that it is still too early to determine what the object is.

"Looks like a larger object that broke up on entry into the atmosphere rather than a meteor. At the moment, it is not clear whether it is natural or man-made," he said.

It is very possible that the object is a disintegrating satellite. A registry of satellites that are about to enter or have already entered the Earth's atmosphere can be viewed at aerospace.org. On today's date - August 25, an object of the company Starlink was registered for the region of Bulgaria.

Satellite number 1257 was launched on March 18, 2020. At the moment, however, there is no official information about the end of its flight in orbit.
