Over 150 guitarists performed an Oath from the movie Yesterday in memory of Kiril Marichkov VIDEO - 1

Over 150 guitarists played "Oath" from the cult film "Yesterday" of "Crickets" in memory of the rock legend Kiril Marichkov, BNT reported.

The event in the park in front of the NDK began with a one-minute round of applause for the patriarch of native rock music. This was also the first mass playing of guitars in our country.

Marichkov himself was supposed to attend the guitar festival.

Dido from D2: Now that Kiril Marichkov is watching from above, we want to do something to honor his memory.

Mitko Karnev: Let us never forget it. That's clear. Thank you. Kiro, look.

And so in one voice from the stage and from the strings of over 150 guitars with the song "Oath" the great Kiril Marichkov, who is also its author, was honored. He wrote it for the movie "Yesterday" and he has said more than once that she will outlive him.

For the first guitar festival in our country, the patriarch of Bulgarian rock confirmed his participation already two months ago. The organizers wanted to congratulate him on his 80th anniversary. From the beginning, the idea of the mass play involved performing a total of 3 songs after a serious selection.

"He was very touched that the song we chose was his and that we wanted to congratulate him and said he would be happy to attend. And enjoy this view. And he confirmed to us that he will attend. We had to change the dates and we heard from him again. And he confirmed to us that he will be able to attend on Sunday. He was genuinely surprised that foreigners had learned his works. We believe that he was also with us today and saw what everyone did," said Srebrena, organizer of the Sofia Guitar Fest.

Bulgarians and foreigners from 12 countries played in unison.

Dimitar, participant: Absolutely iconic music that has inspired many, many musicians.

"What happened to Kiril on the very first day of the Sofia Guitar Fest shows the power of music to pass through time, to bring people and generations together, and this was also shown by the guitarists who had gathered from all generations", said Dido, a singer.

"With such a great loss, everything takes on a completely different meaning. I asked everyone to stand up and let's send the great Kiril Marichkov off with long applause from the heart. I knew him for a long time. I'm about to assimilate, the truth is that I can't accept this thing," Mitko Karnev, guitarist, also said.

From children to adults - everyone loved Kiril Marichkov.
