A mysterious fireball was spotted in the sky over the US state of Georgia, and its fall caused a local earthquake, the US National Weather Service reported in a Facebook post.
“A meteorite or space debris flew through the sky over North Georgia at around 12:30 p.m. Shortly after, multiple reports of an earthquake were received, followed by videos of lightning in the sky that could be seen as far as northern South Carolina. The earthquake is actually a shock wave from the fall of a meteorite or space debris“, the message said.
It also stated that it was not possible to track the object using radar or satellites due to the extremely high speed of the fireball. According to the service, debris fell on the roofs of at least two residential buildings.
