Jordan Pickford has agreed a new contract with English football club Everton and will sign it after the end of the national team camp, reports "Liverpool Echo", quoted by sportal.bg.

Negotiations began a month ago - almost two years before the current deal was due to expire.

Everton had a strong summer in the transfer market and after its closure the club focused on the contracts of its leading players. Pickford, the first choice in the national team, is a priority for the club along with central defenders James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite. The former has already re-signed for two seasons, while offers for the latter have been rejected.

Pickford himself, who joined from Sunderland in 2017, also wants to stay at his current club. During his career, he has played 326 games for the "caramels", in which he has conceded 453 goals and kept 91 clean sheets.

Pickford remains loyal to Everton, who signed him after Sunderland were relegated. It was with the "caramels" that he became an England international and won two silver medals at the European Championships.
